The Nigeria National League, NNL, has issued a two-week ultimatum for facility upgrade at the McCarthy Stadium in Makurdi.
The McCarthy Stadium is the home ground of Nigeria National League, NNL, side Lobi Stars.
The decision was reached after the inspection of the venue by the league organisers ahead of the 2025-26 season.
NNL chairman, Mr George Aluo noted that though the stadium boasts of a good playing pitch, it lacks other facilities necessary to host league matches.
“We’re here in Makurdi to assess the preparedness of the state to host the league opener. From what we saw on ground, the playing turf is in perfect condition but the stadium lacks other facilities necessary to host such a high profile league opener,” Aluo stated during the inspection.
The new season is scheduled to commence on Saturday, 8 November.
