Traditionally, new emirs, after being appointed by the state governments, visit other emirs to strengthen their ties, seek advice and guidance on traditional leadership.

To sustain such culture, according to a press release by Mr Sadam Mato Burra, media aide to the Emir of Ningi, Emir Haruna, along with his entourage, visited the Shehu of Borno in his palace on Saturday in Maiduguri Borno State.

Speaking during the visit, the Emir of Ningi expressed his gratitude to the Shehu of Borno for the support shown to the Ningi Emirate during the passing of the late emir of Ningi, Alhaji Yunusa Muhammad Danyaya.

He stated that the visit was an opportunity to seek fatherly advice and pledged to strengthen the existing cordial relationship between the two emirates.

In his response, the Shehu of Borno commended the Emir of Ningi for the visit and encouraged him to emulate the late emir’s legacy of kindness, selflessness, and dedication to the development of traditional institutions and cultural heritage.

During the engagements, the emirs emphasised the vital role of traditional institutions in fostering societal progress and expressed their shared commitment to preserving cultural heritage and cooperation among emirates.

The Emir of Ningi had earlier visited several emirates, including Bauchi, Katagum, Misau, Jama’are, Dass, and Zazzau, to strengthen ties and seek wisdom from his counterparts.
