Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Cross River State, Comrade Gregory Ulayi has charged the governor-elect, Senator Bassey Edet Otu to include the rehabilitation of the state library complex as one of his top priority projects in order to revive the reading culture among youths.
He urged the governor-elect to sustain some of Governor Ben Ayade’s projects that are impactful to the lives of the citizens.
The NLC boss gave the charge yesterday in his office in Calabar, while answering questions from journalists on the policy and programmes which the NLC chairman would want the governor-elect to prioritise once he hits the ground running.
Olayi who is rounding off his tenure as the state chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) before he won election to assume office as chairman of NLC in Cross River last month stated that with the library, lovers of education can find solace.
The NLC chairman stated that the state at the moment requires at least 20,000 individuals to energise its workforce if the workforce is to remain efficient and productive in delivering quality service to the people.
