Ex-Big Brother Naija housemate and Nollywood actor, Pere Egbi, has raised an alarm after discovering that his movie, ‘The Silent Intruder’, is currently streaming on Tubi film platform without his knowledge or approval.

The actor took to X on Wednesday, expressing shock at the development. According to him, he stumbled on the film while trying to relax at home, only to find what he described as the same version that was released in Nigerian cinemas.

“I spent millions on this project, so how exactly does my movie end up on Tubi without my knowledge or consent?” he wrote, directly calling out FilmOne Entertainment.

The Silent Intruder is a Nigerian drama thriller that premiered in cinemas on February 9, 2024. Directed by Uyoyo Adia. The movie features a strong cast, including Pere Egbi himself, Uche Montana, Venita Akpofure, and Lucy Ameh.

The storyline centres on Catherine Philips, a woman who seeks therapy to salvage her troubled marriage, only to uncover a disturbing obsession that spirals into danger. Pere plays Zaki Bond, delivering one of the film’s central performances while also serving as its executive producer.

The movie was originally distributed in cinemas by FilmOne Entertainment, making Pere’s claims particularly sensitive, as questions now arise about licensing, distribution rights, and how the film ended up on a global streaming platform like Tubi.

The sad incident has sparked conversations within the Nigerian film industry about intellectual property protection and transparency in distribution agreements.
