The association said he will be remembered as a great pioneer, a patriotic individual, and a strong advocate for good governance, a free press, and the fundamental right of the people to be informed.

It said High Dokpesi, who was not only a trained Marine Engineer but also a seasoned politician, played a pivotal role in revolutionising private radio and television broadcasting in Nigeria.

“In 1994, he established Ray Power, an FM radio station, followed by Africa Independent Television (AIT) two years later.”

“Throughout his career, High Chief Dokpesi held various strategic positions in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and proved himself worthy. Known for his unassuming nature and philanthropic endeavours, he touched the lives of many people and used his media platform to amplify the voices of the marginalised,” the association said.

As the NPAN extends its condolences to the media fraternity, it urged the immediate and political families of High Chief Dokpesi to find solace in the fact that he has left behind a lasting legacy of hard work and selflessness.

It also urged the youths of Nigeria to emulate his dedication, humility, and unwavering commitment to serving the people.
