According to CCII, the conferment is part of activities to celebrate the 2025 Ibadan Cultural Festival, with the grand finale taking place today at the Obafemi Awolowo (Liberty) Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan. The chairman of the CCII Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee, Alhaji Abiola Alli, and the president general of CCII, Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole disclosed this in a jointly signed statement.

The statement said, “The award is in appreciation of Babarimisa’s immense contributions to the progress of the CCII and Ibadanland in the past years. Whereas most people in Nigeria are usually being recognised after their demise, we in Ibadan have decided to celebrate you now to show you that Ibadan has a deserved permanent place for you in her history. You deserve this honour for your relentless and selfless service to the CCII and Ibadanland. Your unique patriotic gestures will remain indelible in our minds till eternity as they show that someone like you will surely do more for Ibadanland as God continues to bless your endeavours.”

Meanwhile, the Igbajo Development Association (IDA) has congratulated Prince Babarimisa on his award. The association appreciated the awardee for his dedication to promoting the welfare and interests of the Ibadan people and his selfless service and contributions to the community.

Also, the principal of I Flier International School, Elder Olugboyega Adedeji, and the general manager of I Flier 103.3 fm Ibadan, Prince Adejare Amuda, have congratulated the awardee.
