Ondo Farmer Found Dead In Cocoa Plantation

The police in Ondo State have commenced investigation into the death of a 52-year-old farmer, Ajibade Kehinde, whose body was found on his cocoa farm at Alani Camp, via Supare in Akoko South-West local government area of the state on Thursday.

Kehinde was said to have left home for the farm on Thursday but didn’t return, prompting his family and other concerned persons to raise the alarm.

His body was later discovered along a farm road in the area.

A source in the community said the farmer may have been attacked by thieves. The source noted that some farm produce was still found at the scene, raising questions about the motive of the attackers.
Following the discovery, the police led by the Divisional Police Officer visited the scene and evacuated the body to a General Hospital where a doctor certified him dead.

His remains were subsequently deposited at the hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy while detectives commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police public relations officer DSP Abayomi Jimoh said;

“The command is investigating the incident to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death and track down those behind it. We will deploy all necessary measures to ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.”
