Victor Osimhen reportedly chose to extend his stay in hospital following arm surgery, prioritising a quicker and more controlled recovery as he works towards a return to action for Galatasaray.
The Nigeria international underwent surgery last Monday morning after sustaining an injury earlier this month. Initial plans indicated he would be discharged the following day, but Turkish journalist Haluk Yürekli revealed that the striker personally requested to remain under medical supervision.
According to Yürekli, Osimhen informed club officials of his preference to continue treatment in hospital, believing it would aid a faster recovery. The request was granted, with tight security reportedly maintained around his room during his stay.
“He did not want to be discharged immediately and asked for his care to continue in hospital so he could return sooner,” Yürekli stated, noting that even close family members had restricted access during the recovery period.
Osimhen has since been discharged, bringing an end to a carefully managed post-operative phase aimed at ensuring optimal rehabilitation.
The 25-year-old forward suffered the injury during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg defeat to Liverpool, a setback that temporarily halted his momentum during a key stage of the season.
His decision to remain under close medical care underlines both his professionalism and determination to return to peak condition as swiftly as possible, with Galatasaray expected to monitor his progress closely in the coming weeks.
