The federal lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Francis Fadahunsi has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Senator Fadahunsi made this disclosure in a personally signed resignation letter dated June 12, 2025 that was submitted to the party’s Ward Chairman of Ward 4, Obokun local government area of Osun State.
According to the letter, Senator Fadahunsi stated that his resignation from the PDP was due to irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that had bedeviled the party at the national level after the 2023 general elections.
He added that his decision came after consultation and engagement with his political associates, family and friends.
The letter reads, “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level after the 2023 general elections.
“This (resignation) was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.
“It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.
“Thank you for your understanding,” the lawmaker wrote.
Recall that Senator Fadahunsi along the senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi recently reiterated their unweaving commitment to President Bola Tinubu and pledged their continued support for his administration and second term bid.
Although the lawmaker was yet to declare his next political party, his resignation comes a midst heightened speculations about the possible defection of the state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Although the governor recently denied the rumour, he however recently declared that his supporters were ready to follow him to any political party, if he so desired.
