Lawmakers elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the state and national levels in Osun State have pulled their weight behind the second-term bid of Governor Ademola Adeleke and Hon. Sunday Bisi, the PDP leadership in the state.

In a communiqué signed by Senator Lere Oyewumi at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting of the National and State assembly members elected on the platform of PDP from Osun State on Saturday, the stakeholders passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Hon. Sunday Bisi-led State Working Committee.

The lawmakers also unanimously endorsed and gave their total support to Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office in the interest of continuity, stability, and sustained progress for Osun State.

They noted that their decision to back Adeleke followed a review of the governor’s performance in infrastructure development, workers’ welfare, healthcare, education, and democratic stability.

The legislators also condemned the continued unlawful occupation of local government secretariats by APC members whose elections were nullified by competent courts.

The communique read in part: “That the illegal diversion of local government allocations that are public funds into private pockets is also condemned by all members present.

“The continued withholding of Local Government allocations due to Osun State is causing avoidable hardship for teachers, nurses, healthcare workers, Local Government civil servants, retirees, and traditional institutions at the grassroots. Funds meant for the people must not be politicised or subjected to extraneous interference”.

The lawmakers, however, called on the people of Osun State to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and steadfast in the defence of democracy and good governance.
