A group operating under aegis of Concerned Railway Pensioners, has threatened a legal action against Pension Transition Administration Directorate, (PTAD) for remitting the check-off dues of members to the Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria, (FEPPPAN)
General Secretary of the group, Comrade John Uwemedimoh who dropped this hint in an interview with our correspondent said that the decision to seek redress in court was based on the fact that the circular from the ministry of Labour and Employment signed by the permanent secretary, Dr. Yerima Tarfa, and dated September 17, 2021.
According to him, the circular granted approval to FEPPPAN to organise pensioners under the defined pension scheme also stated it is the statutory right of a pensioner to contract out of the check off dues.
He stated further that the group was not satisfied with the way and manner the officials of FPPPAN are handling issues of harmonization and 12 arrears of 33 per cent increase in pensions owed railway ex-servicemen since 2010.
