Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Pereira has confirmed that Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has returned to training with the squad, though his availability for Sunday’s final Premier League match against Bournemouth remains uncertain.
Aina has been sidelined since picking up a knock during Forest’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Aston Villa on April 30.
The Nigerian full-back missed the subsequent league clash against Manchester United and has been a doubt for the season finale at Bournemouth.
Providing an update via Nottingham Forest’s official website, Pereira said: “Murillo stays without training with the team. Ola (Aina) started today on the pitch. I think Dan (Ndoye) has worked two times with the team, but we will see. I think that is all.”
The Portuguese coach emphasized that with little at stake in the final game, the club will not take unnecessary risks with any recovering player.
“We are in a moment of the season where we can’t take risks because this is a game we want to win. It’s not a final or a game to decide big things. Of course we want to win the game, we want three points and finish in the positions in the table,” Pereira explained.
“We will do everything to get a good result, but it is not possible to take risks at this moment,” added the former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss.
Forest are expected to make a late decision on Aina’s involvement as they look to end the campaign on a positive note.
