The National President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), Prince Billy Gillis-Harry, has commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting youth empowerment through skills acquisition programmes in Rivers State.
Gillis-Harry gave the commendation at the graduation ceremony of 140 youths who completed a six-day training on the installation and maintenance of lithium-ion solar street lights in Obuama, Degema Local Government Area of the state.
The programme was organised by the office of the senator representing Rivers South-West, Senator Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, and facilitated by Bilview Energy Limited. The participants were also presented with starter packs to help them begin their businesses.
Gillis-Harry said the initiative aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of equipping young Nigerians with practical skills for self-reliance and economic growth.
“For the past six to seven days, we have seen young men and women embrace knowledge, acquire practical skills and prepare themselves to become drivers of sustainable energy solutions in their communities,” he said.
He also praised Senator Harry-Banigo for her commitment to youth development, describing her as a selfless leader dedicated to serving her people.
In her remarks, Senator Harry-Banigo urged the beneficiaries to continue developing their skills and use the opportunity to contribute positively to national development.
She said the era of constant complaints was over, urging young Nigerians to become active participants in building the country.
“I am proud that you participated in this training with commitment and courage. I thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing this platform to build the confidence of our youths, develop their talents and make them useful to society,” she said.
“You have been empowered. Use the knowledge you have gained for your benefit, your family and the society at large. We want to equip you with skills for the future of Nigeria.
“Build your character and prepare yourselves to contribute to the advancement of this country. No more complaints. Get involved in activities that will move society forward.”
Also speaking, the Managing Director of RISE C-Boss Global Limited, Cynthia Ejifoma, described the training as a life-changing opportunity that had equipped participants with practical renewable energy skills.
