Some retired personnel of the Nigerian Army who voluntarily disengaged in the third and fourth quarters of 2023, on Monday staged a peaceful protest in front of the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja.

The retired personnel demanded immediate payment of their outstanding entitlements.

The ex-servicemen, who officially exited the military on July 1, 2024, carried placards and banners outlining their demands.

These include full payment of gratuities, Salary Deductions Allowance (SDA) adjusted to reflect the new national minimum wage, contributions to the housing scheme, NAWIS/BenFund disbursements, and their pending packing allowance.

Many of the protesters, some of whom served in the armed forces for decades, said the delay in settling their benefits amounts to unfair treatment and broken promises by the government.
