Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 11 suspects in connection with a violent attack by thugs which occurred on Monday night at the Medile Quarters area of the state capital.
A statement on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Haruna Kiyawa, said the attack occurred around 10p.m. on May 26, when a group of armed youths invaded the residential area, assaulting residents and robbing them of their belongings.
In response to the incident, Kiyawa said police arrested the suspects who were reportedly armed with dangerous weapons during the attack.
The Police spokesperson named the suspects as Aliyu Ibrahim, 21 years; Abubakar Ya’u, 18 years; Ibrahim Kaulayi, 19 years; Ibrahim Murtala a.k.a. Mai Rakuma, 18; Abba Musa a.k.a. Giza Gizo, 27 years and Muhammad Dawud a.k.a. Dan Besse, 19 years.
The rest are Abdullahi Ibrahim a.k.a. Tsoho Me Nama, 38; Jibril Abubakar a.k.a. Abasu Kala, 22; Salim Musa, 20; Zaharaddin Ismail a.k.a. Gwan Gwan, 20 years and Abubakar Hassan a.k.a. Meguda Dan Ta, 44 years.
Police disclosed that investigations were ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the process.
Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ibrahim Bakori, has reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on thuggery and criminality.
CP Bakori urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies, assuring the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
