Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested four suspects in separate operations for offences of armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms, cultism and drug trafficking.
Spokesman of the Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe disclosed that two firearms and quantities of weeds suspected to be Loud were recovered from the suspects.
He explained that the arrest reflects the proactive policing strategies of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa.
Ndukwe stated that one of the suspects identified as Ikechukwu Ugwele was arrested by operatives of the Crack Tactical Squad, adding that the operatives recovered a Beretta pistol from him.
He continued that weeds suspected to be a premium variant of marijuana popularly known as “Loud” was recovered from the suspect.
Similarly, Ndukwe added that operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad also arrested 25-year-old Emmanuel Eze, alias Camara and recovered a locally made pistol from the suspect.
Ndukwe said the arrest of the second suspect followed confessions by two other suspects – Uchenna Nwudi and Eze Chiadikobi.
He disclosed that Nwudi confessed to being a fabricator of firearms, while Chiadikobi was involved in transformer vandalism, adding that the suspects confessed to being members of Vikings Confraternity.
Ndukwe stated that all the suspects, will be arraigned upon the conclusion of investigations.
