Police Arrest 5 Suspected Cattle Rustlers, Armed Robbers In Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has apprehended five (5) persons accused of armed robbery at Mashio, Fune local government area of Yobe State.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Dungus Abdulkarim in a statement said on June 30, 2025, at about 1:30pm, Damagum Divisional Police Headquarters received credible intelligence about suspected cattle rustlers moving a large number of cattle along Mashio, Fune LGA.

Dungus said a swift police action led to the arrest of three suspects including Mohammed Sani (40), Abubakar Sani (35), and Abdullahi Buhari (37), all from Kano State.

The suspects all confessed to rustling 113 cattle from Falgore Bush Area of Kano State.

Dungus added that the case has been transferred to the Crack Squad for further investigation.

In a separate incident, on June 30, 2025, at about 11am, police responded to a distress call about an armed robbery attempt in Jajare, Fune LGA.

According to the statement, 2 suspects, Umar Lamido Wada (22) and Saidu Habu (25), were arrested, while their victim was rescued with various degrees of injuries and referred to a specialist hospital Potiskum for treatment.

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Emmanuel Ado, commended the personnel’s resilience and commitment to sustaining the tempo.

He also thanked the communities for their maximum collaboration and urged them to continually cooperate with the security operatives.
