The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer and five suspected thugs in an operation that led to the recovery of illicit drugs and dangerous weapons in the state.
According to a statement released by the spokesperson of the Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the arrests were carried out on January 10, 2026, by operatives attached to the Jaoji Police Division, as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and related crimes.
The Command said the suspected drug dealer, identified as Hafizu Ali, 25, a resident of Jaoji Quarters, Kano, was arrested alongside five others described as remnants of dislodged thugs.
During the operation, Police said Hafizu Ali was found in possession of 2,070 capsules of suspected Pregabalin and 23 parcels of suspected cannabis sativa. The Command added that four knives, two scissors and an axe were also recovered from the suspected thugs.
Commending the officers involved, CP Bakori praised their commitment and dedication to duty and expressed appreciation to the people of Kano State for their continued support and cooperation with the police.
The Command said investigations were ongoing and that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. It also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
