The Nigeria Police Force has uncovered an illegal arms syndicate operating in Kano State, leading to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of 15 locally-fabricated rifles along with 102 live cartridges.

The suspects identified as Abdul Sadiq, 43; Ahmad Muazu, 22; and Aliyu Sharif, 40, were apprehended on April 10 in the Dorayi Babba area of the state following a coordinated intelligence-led operation by officers of the Kano State Police Command.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed the arrests in a statement, noting that the operation was based on a credible tip-off that led to discovery of cache of the illegal weapons.

“The suspects were caught in possession of a substantial cache of illegal firearms,” ACP Adejobi said. “Investigators are currently working to locate the source of manufacture and apprehend other individuals connected to the arms ring.”

Also recovered during the operation were six expended cartridges believed to have been used in previous criminal activities.
