Police authorities said the operatives acted on credible intelligence regarding the movement of illegal arms within the state, resulting in the arrest of the suspects.

Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State Command, ASP Munsir Hassan, in a statement on Friday identified the suspects as 40-year-old Zubairu Musa, and Nasiru Saidu, 17, both natives of Kankara local government area of Katsina State.

ASP Hassan said the suspects were found in possession of a bag containing eight locally made pump-action guns, one locally made pistol and sixty-five live cartridges.

The police spokesperson said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in the illegal trafficking of firearms, adding that they are currently cooperating with the police to aid in the apprehension of their accomplices and to uncover the full extent of the gunrunning network within the state.
