Before this appointment, Professor Yerima served as the acting vice chancellor of the institution.
His elevation to the substantive position is seen by many as a recognition of his dedication, competence, and the stability he brought during his tenure in an acting capacity.

His background in higher education and understanding of the university’s vision make him well-positioned to lead SSU into a new era of excellence and innovation.

The Sokoto State Government has expressed optimism that under Professor Yerima’s leadership, the university will experience enhanced academic performance, infrastructural development, and improved staff and student welfare.
