Protest: Katsina Gov Seeks FG’s Support To Curb Banditry

Katsina State Governor, Mallam Umaru Dikko Radda, has called on the federal government to support the state’s effort in the fight against bandits that are wrecking havoc and pain on the people in the state.

The governor made the plea while addressing youths protesting against devastating attacks by bandits in the area from Wurma community in Birchi.

Governor Radda during the visit to the community, expressed deepest sympathy with the victims, assuring them of his administration’s tireless efforts with security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Affirming that the government will mobilize 100 security personnel to Wurma, the governor also pledged that the state government will feed the personnel daily and urged them to nominate 10 persons who will meet him in Katsina to fashion out ways to cushion their challenges, particularly as Ramadan is fast approaching.

His words, “Your protest is genuine and I feel for you, but please remain calm as the government is doing all it can to stop this. Words cannot express the profound grief I feel for the families who have lost loved ones in this senseless act of violence.

“My heart aches for the children who have lost their parents and the community that has been so deeply affected. I stand with you in this time of unimaginable pain and hardship.”

“I call for peace and unity within the community,” Governor Radda implored.

Governor Radda pleased for the people to stand together against these barbaric acts and work collaboratively to overcome this challenge.

“I want to assure you that my administration is working tirelessly with security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. We will not rest until peace and security are restored to Katsina State,” Radda added.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ibrahim Muhammed Kaula, in a statement quoted Radda to calle on the youths to channel their energies into supporting the JTF, CWC and other security agencies.

Kaula stressed that the governor’s visit and the community’s response represent a crucial step towards healing and unity.

He said the fight against banditry remains a complex undertaking which can be overpowered collectively to build a safer future for the people of Katsina State.

The governor called on the federal government to assist the state In fighting this banditry by sending more reinforcement.
