Quramo Writers Prize Releases 2024 Longlist Budding Writers Award

Quramo Writers Prize (QWP) has released a longlist of the top 20 manuscripts for its budding writers award.

Longlisted writers in the eighth edition of the prize include Adeseri Emmanuela, Martin Chukwumah, Kabir Sabe Jibia, Salome Abiodun Medemaku, Arthur Gabriel Yak, Chukwumah Jonathan, Amaka Azie, Sandra Uche Delumozie, Bisola Akintomide, Oyeleye Esther Eniola, Chidi Nwakpa and Henry Chukwuemeka Onyema. Others are Lawal Ayuba Adewale, Ifeanyi Kalu, Ornguze Nashima Nathaniel, Immaculate Halla, Adikaibe Caleb Chidera, Vandefan Aondogu Fidelis, Joseph Olamide Babalola and Deryus Kwabena Partey.

The longlist will be whittled to a shortlist of five by the three-man Jury – comprising writer and Executive Director of Business Development, Narrative Landscape Press, Dr Eghosa Imaseun; author, editor and Chief Executive Officer, Finished Work Enterprises, Lechi Eke, and writer and ex-Arts Editor and Head of Politics, The Guardian Nigeria, Mr Anote Ajeluorou. This will be followed by the announcement of the winner on at the Quramo Festival set to hold October 2 to 6, 2024 at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Established in 2017, the annual 30,000 words fiction manuscript submission prize gifts N1 million cash prize and a publishing contract to a newly discovered and unpublished writer, enabling them kickstart their writing career.

Chiziterem Chijioke won the QWP 2023 Prize with her manuscript ‘Dear Zini’.
