Abbas Muhammed, head of communication, Gombe State chapter of the society, gave the commendation in an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP Friday on the sideline of the track and field events at the Gombe Stadium in Pantami yesterday.
Muhammed, whose organisation (Red Cross) involvement in providing medical support and safety contributed to the success of the event, commended the convener Gara Gombe for his concerted effort in organising the Inter Schools Games where young talents for grooming are being discovered.

“This event is an avenue for our children to showcase their talent and I’m sure their talent is going to go places, it will not end here in Gombe.

“I commend the initiator and sponsor of the event, Ahmed Shuaibu-Gara Gombe, for gathering these children together for this all important event,” Muhammed said.

The championship, featuring various athletic events where students from different schools across Gombe State showcased their skills and competed for top honors, will end tomorrow’s Saturday after five days of intense competitions among participating athletes and schools.

Speaking further, Muhammed said the participation of Red Cross ensures that all athletes received the necessary care during the events and promised that the lapses recorded will be looked into and improved on in subsequent editions of the Games.

“An event of this magnitude, featuring children from schools across the state, you will definitely have one or two lapses. But the organiser has really impressed me and everyone participating in the competitions.

“From the Red Cross angle, where we didn’t get right now, we will tell the organiser to look into it and improve on them in subsequent editions.
