The Police command in Katsina State on Friday disbursed N10.9 million to the heirs of police personnel who lost their lives in active service.

A statement by the command spokesman, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, said the money was for 34 beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance and the IGP’s Family Welfare Scheme.

He said that the cheques were presented to the beneficiaries by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Aminu Usman-Gusau, on behalf of the CP Bello Shehu.

In his remarks, the CP appreciated the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, for his compassion towards the families of the fallen heroes and his unflinching dedication towards improving the welfare of police officers and their families.

He urged the beneficiaries to see the gesture as a form of relief and tribute to the sacrifices made by the fallen officers.

Shehu advised them to effectively utilise the funds towards the betterment of the lives of the families left behind. He prayed for the repose of the departed souls.
