Teenage crossdressers are on the prowl in some parts of Enugu, the capital of Enugu State.
It was observed that the individuals include both males and females who now dress and act like the opposite gender.

Some of the residents who spoke in an exclusive interview with our correspondent expressed concern over the teenagers’ activities.

A resident of Obiagu in Ogui New Layout, who identified himself as Obinna Ekwe, described the situation as worrisome.

“Honestly, the activities of these people are very disturbing and embarrassing. How can young people embrace this kind of lifestyle, and be proud to be associated with it. They no longer pretend about it and they even boast about it. They behave like ladies and young boys, and they are always roaming round the city displaying their bodies,” he stated.

Another resident of Robinson Street, Mrs Ifeoma Obigeri said there was the need to address the ugly development urgently.

” It is really sad that young men and women are now crossdressers because of what they want to gain from it; some people are influencing them with money and other gift items,” she said.

Speaking with our correspondent, a psychologist, Mr Ndukwe Igbokwe, attributed activities of the individuals to a complex interplay of biological, psychological and environmental factors.
He added that prenatal hormone exposures and early childhood experience may also play a huge role.
