The chairman of the Hausa Community in Kwara State, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammed-Chindo, has called on the governors of the 19 northern states to revive all the moribund industries, especially the textiles companies with a view to providing job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the region.

He opined that banditry and other violent crimes that are now prevalent in the northern states were as a result of youth joblessness.

Muhammed – Chindo, who spoke exclusively with LEADERSHIP in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, said providing job opportunities remains the only enduring solution to the youth restiveness in the northern states.

He described as embarrassing and unfortunate the wanton destruction and looting of public property by some misguided youths in some northern states during the recent #Endbadgovernance protests in some parts of the country.

Muhammed – Chindo who is also the Kwara State chairman of Jama’atul Izalatul Bidi’a Waikamatul Sunna, equally called for the return of groundnut pyramid in Kano and promotion of agricultural practice in the north generally to engage the youths in useful and profitable ventures.

He bemoaned the security situation in the country. He charged the federal and state governments to further assist the security agencies in carrying out their onerous task of securing the nation.

” Every sane Nigerian is disturbed about insecurity across the country, especially in the north where banditry and kidnapping have become rampant. In my view, the problem of insecurity stems from unemployment. We need to engage our youths productively.

” I want to appeal to our governors in the 19 northern states to revive all the moribund industries, especially the textiles companies, to provide job opportunities for our youths. The governor should also encourage our people to return to the farm as some of these youths can also be engaged by the farmers.

” Though the government at all levels are doing their best to ensure the security of lives and property across the country, they need to put in more effort, especially in the areas of encouragement for our security operatives and job creation,” he said.

Abdullahi hailed the administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State for ensuring harmonious co-existence amongst the people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds in the state.

” We thank Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the peace we enjoy in Kwara. I have family in Zamfara State, but I can’t visit them again because of the problem of insecurity in the upper north,” he added.
