Rivers LG Defends Investment On Security

Chairman of Emohua local government area in Rivers State, Dr. ChidiLloyd has said his administration is investing heavily in security due to the fact the insecurity remain greatest challenge of the local government area.

Lloyd disclosed this yesterday while speaking during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of Egbeda Divisional Police headquarters building, held in Egbeda community in Emohua LGA of the state.

He said his administration was already completing a divisional police headquarters building opposite the Emohua campus of the Rivers State University along Emohua-Kalabari Road.

The LG boss said; “One of our major challenges in Emohua LGA is insecurity, that’s why we’re investing heavily in security.

“We are already completing a storey building police divisional headquarters in Emohua, opposite the Emohua campus of the Rivers State University, which we intend to commission along other completed projects during our second year anniversary celebration in October.”

He stated that apart from the construction of the police buildings, his administration had recently refurbished and handed over an Armored Personnel Carrier (APV) to the Rumuji Divisional Police headquarters, while plans are underway to also handover two additional Hilux vehicles to the two police divisions in the area.

 

In his remarks, the commissioner of police in Rivers State, Nwonyi Emekacommended Lloyd for his untiring commitment towards eradicating crime and criminality in the local government area.

 

Nwonyi, who was represented by the deputy commissioner of police, Administration, Samuel Ilory, noted that Lloyd has been in the forefront of the fight against insecurity in the area.

He therefore urged stakeholders and community leaders to give the necessary support to the council chairman and the security agencies in the area by providing reliable information to aid the operations of security personnel, in order to sustaining the prevalent peace and security in the area.
