Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command on Wednesday killed a wanted notorious kidnapper, Sunday Amadi, popularly known as “Occasion,” and a member of his gang during a raid in their hideout in the forest of Emohua Local Government Area of the state.

Amadi, who is suspected of being behind a series of kidnappings along the East-West Road in Emohua, had a N2 million bounty placed on his head by the Chairman of Emohua LGA, Dr. Chidi Lloyd.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the policemen during the raid, also rescued four kidnap victims, who had spent more than 48 hours in captivity.

It was further gathered that one of the victims, who sustained injuries while in the kidnappers’ den, was immediately moved to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) for medical attention.

The victims told the police operatives that they were blindfolded throughout their stay in captivity, adding that their captors tortured them and extracted money, ranging from N800,000 to N1,900,000, from them and their families without releasing them.

Speaking shortly after visiting the injured victim at the hospital, the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, commended the men of the command for their professionalism and persistence in bringing criminals to their knees.

Disu, who stated that the Rivers State Police Command under his watch would stop at nothing to rid the state of criminals, assured the rescued victims of proper post-rescue care from the Command.

He expressed the readiness of the men of the command to flush out every kidnap syndicate or gang in the state.
