Robert De Niro, Angelina Jolie Among Stars Whose Contact Details Were Leaked in Alleged Tribeca Film Festival Data Breach

Personal contact details belonging to several Hollywood stars, including Robert De Niro and Angelina Jolie, were reportedly exposed online following an alleged data breach linked to the Tribeca Film Festival.

The security lapse was discovered by cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler, who described it as one of the biggest celebrity-related data exposures he has investigated.

According to Fowler, three publicly accessible databases connected to the New York film festival contained sensitive information, including phone numbers and email addresses linked to prominent figures in the entertainment industry.

“There were many, many household names in the records who could have been targeted with malware,” Fowler told The Sun. “There were names, phone numbers and email addresses.”

The list of those reportedly affected also included legendary director Martin Scorsese, Star Wars creator George Lucas, actors Neil Patrick Harris, Rami Malek, Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas, as well as Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle.

Fowler said the incident was especially alarming given the level of privacy typically maintained by celebrities.

“It’s really unique because these individuals are so guarded and they protect their personal privacy, their contacts, their phone numbers,” he said.

After discovering the exposed databases, Fowler said he alerted the Tribeca Film Festival, which removed the information from public access. He later received a response from one of the festival’s legal executives confirming that the organisation was investigating the matter.

“They responded pretty quickly, so it was obvious they knew what it was and that it shouldn’t have been there,” Fowler added.

A source quoted by The Sun claimed that most of the leaked contact details belonged to managers and agents rather than the celebrities themselves.

The Tribeca Film Festival has yet to issue a public statement on the reported breach, and there is currently no evidence that the exposed information was accessed or exploited before the databases were secured.
