Former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi has encouraged the Red Devils to consider a move for veteran Poland captain Robert Lewandowski, describing the prolific forward as an ideal mentor for the club’s younger attackers.
Manchester United have been linked with several attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season, and Rossi believes the experienced Barcelona striker could provide both goals and leadership.
Lewandowski, one of the most successful forwards of his generation, is reportedly approaching the end of his time at Barcelona, with his current contract set to expire later this month.
Rossi believes the 37-year-old’s experience at the highest level would be invaluable, particularly for emerging talents such as Benjamin Šeško should the Slovenian complete a move to Old Trafford.
Speaking to The Standard, Rossi said:
“Robert Lewandowski to Manchester United? Yes, why not?
“Of course, Lewandowski would be an incredible asset for the younger players, providing his experience, professionalism and big-game knowledge.”
The Polish striker has enjoyed a remarkable career, winning league titles in Germany and Spain while also lifting the UEFA Champions League with Bayern Munich. His arrival, Rossi argues, could help accelerate the development of Manchester United’s next generation of attacking talent.
