Nurudeen said the gesture was also to complement government’s effort in providing conducive environment for learning in the state.

“This water system facility is in line with Rotary area of focus. We have three areas of focus – water, sanitation and basic hygiene; prevention of disease and treatment as well as to support basic education and literacy.

“We carried out need assessment in the school and the management told us that their major priority now is water system to be connected to their toilet and latrine.

“Actually, it is the responsibility of the government but we believe that with the realities of things on ground, the government cannot cater for all the needs of our various schools and that is why service organization such as Rotary Club decided to complement what the government is doing to improve hygiene and conducive environment of learning,” he explained.

In her remarks, branch manager of Access Bank, Retail Team Kano 1, Mrs Eleojo Adamu said the gesture was part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, of giving back to the society, noting that, they had visited the senior section of the school alongside Diamond Bank and WIMBIS where it educated the girls and donated sanitary pads to them.

The principal of the school, Saratu Abdu Ali, in a remark earlier, commended the Rotary Club for the gesture which she said will go a long way to encourage practice of hygiene among the students.
