SDP Offers KMT Yobe 2027 Governorship Ticket

The Yobe State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has appealed to the most prominent governorship aspirant from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Musa Tumsah, to join them and contest the governorship position under its platform.

Speaking at a press conference in Damaturu, the state capital, the SDP Chairman in the state, Alhaji Abba Bature, said the decision to ask KMT to join the SDP and serve as its flag bearer in the state is unanimous among all loyalists and supporters of the SDP.

He stated that Tumsah’s name remained far ahead of other aspirants, cutting across all the political parties, especially the APC in the state, due to his unflinching and consistent commitment to the growth and development of Yobe State.

According to him, “Kashim Musa Tumsah KMT has demonstrated that he is a true democrat and a development advocate impacting on people’s lives in many positive ways throughout the state without segregation, even before he fully joined politics.

Our people from all parts of the state have expressed confidence in his ability to govern and lead them and the state to greater heights by providing visionary leadership acquired through his wealth of experience,” he remarked.

He further said, “For too long, our people have hoped for leadership that truly listens, leadership that serves, and leadership that delivers. Today, we say enough is enough. The time has come for a new direction — a direction built on transparency, accountability, and real development.

“We are not here for empty promises. We are here for action. We are here to restore the dignity of leadership and put the people of Yobe first.

“And in this spirit of unity and progress, I make a sincere and open call to Kashim Musa Tumsah — a man of vision, a man with capacity — to join us in this movement for change.

“This is not about individuals. This is about Yobe. This is about our future. This is about building a state where every citizen has a voice, where opportunities are real, and where leadership is accountable to the people.”

Amidst clapping and cheering, members of the SDP in Yobe expressed hope and strong belief that KMT will accept the call as the 2027 general elections gather momentum by the day.

As the most popular grassroots governorship aspirant in the state, KMT is currently nursing his ambition to become governor under the APC, but has recognised a large following across all political parties in the state.
