The Senate has officially expressed its unwavering support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the entire Senate leadership by passing a vote of confidence on them.

During the Thursday plenary, a motion for the vote was introduced by Senator Abdul Ningi, who represents Bauchi Central, and was seconded by Senator Aminu Abass of Adamawa Central. Ningi called all Senators, regardless of their party affiliations, to unite in supporting the leadership of the Senate and Akpabio amidst recent rumours of an impending impeachment against the Senate President.

Senator Ningi highlighted that the rumours, which rapidly spread across social media, had infringed upon his rights as a Senator from the North. He emphasised that the Northern Senators Caucus had no intention of ousting Akpabio, stating that they were satisfied with his leadership and had not considered any changes.

In light of this, Ningi urged his colleagues to come together and support both Akpabio and the 10th Senate leadership as a whole. Following his motion, the Senate unanimously endorsed the vote of confidence motion, reaffirming their collective support and cooperation for the leadership team.
