Senegal’s esteemed forward, Sadio Mane, has been honoured with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco.

The 33-year-old was instrumental in the Teranga Lions’ campaign, contributing two goals and four assists across six appearances. His pivotal moment came in the final against hosts Morocco, where he expertly set up Pape Gueye for the winning goal in extra time, sealing a 1-0 victory for Senegal.

Meanwhile, Morocco’s talented winger, Brahim Diaz, claimed the Golden Boot award, having netted five goals during the tournament. Diaz’s teammate, Yassine Bounou, was recognised as the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament for his outstanding performances.

In a testament to their sportsmanship, tournament hosts Morocco also received the Fair Play award.
