Nigerian entrepreneur and philanthropist, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive development, regional cooperation, and the expansion of youth engagement in Nigeria’s national growth agenda.

Speaking while hosting son of Nigeria’s President, Seyi Tinubu, at his residence in Abuja, Cubana stressed the need for the development of the South-East, and Nigeria at large, beyond political divides.

He emphasised that such progress should be driven by competence, integrity, and constructive engagement with leadership.

“The development of the South-East must be an all-inclusive project, free from partisan politics. It can only be achieved when competent individuals are in positions of influence, guiding those in power and helping to deliver meaningful outcomes for the people,” he stated.

Reflecting on the region’s recent improvements in security, Obi Cubana acknowledged the positive strides made by South-East governors in collaboration with the Federal Government. He highlighted the restoration of peace during the recent festive season, which enabled families and businesses to reconnect with their roots and embrace their heritage.

“For the first time in a long while, we returned home in December and truly enjoyed Ala Igbo. This was made possible by deliberate actions taken to address insecurity. I believe strongly that our region is on the path to regaining its status as the economic powerhouse of West Africa,” Obi Cubana remarked, adding, “Better days are ahead.”

On the topic of his recent appointment as South-East Coordinator for the City Boy Movement, Obi Cubana acknowledged the mixed reactions it had generated. However, he remained resolute in his belief that meaningful change can only come through constructive engagement, not by standing apart from the system.

“Regarding my recent appointment as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, I understand the varied reactions it has provoked. But my stance remains unchanged: lasting change comes from engaging with the system, not from distancing oneself,” he explained.

Obi Cubana reiterated that his core values of service, integrity, and community development would continue to guide his public and private engagements.

“Service remains my guiding principle, and this new role does not alter my commitment to integrity, community growth, and responsible leadership,” he affirmed.

Further emphasising the importance of being close to the decision-making process, Obi Cubana highlighted why active participation in leadership matters.

“I’ve learned that influence is most effective when you are part of the system. So yes, I am a City Boy, inside and out,” he stated.

He also pointed to President Bola Tinubu as a prime example of someone who embodies the ethos of the City Boy movement, describing him as a man of commerce and leadership. Obi Cubana expressed his belief in the collective strength of Nigerians in achieving national goals.

He said, “Our nation’s leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is also a City Boy and a man of commerce. All of us need each other to achieve our national aspirations. I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do.”

Calling for civility, unity, and forward-thinking dialogue, Obi Cubana urged Nigerians to focus on creating value, rather than perpetuating division.

“Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now, we move!” he declared.

In conclusion, Obi Cubana expressed deep gratitude for the public’s continued support, reaffirming his vision for a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.

He intends to leverage his private-sector experience to support policies and leadership frameworks that empower young people, women, children, and small businesses.

“Where enterprise meets vision and leadership is right, I will always be willing to support and advise anyone in a position of power on how to improve the lives of our youths, women, children, businesses, and future generations. That is what I stand for, progress,” he added.
