Vice President Kashim Shettima has paid a Sallah homage to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Vice President who arrived Sokoto in company of Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum and other political allies emphasized the need for leaders in northern Nigeria to come together and find solution to the challenges bedeviling the region.
He said, “peace cannot be achieved in an atmosphere of rancour therefore, leaders in the region should ensure they work in unison for the attainment of peace in the region.
“The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will accord traditional institutions the deserved honour and respect. I advise Sokoto state governor to do the same.”
Responding, the Sultan admonished Nigerians on the need to work together to achieve peace and unity of the country.
He appealed to Nigerians to show understanding and give the new administration a chance especially the new reforms and changes being experienced as a result of the new policies of government.
The Vice President had earlier held a closed door session with Governor Ahmed Aliyu, at the Government House, before proceeding to the palace.
