Nigerian music sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has strongly criticised the immediate-past President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, over the latter’s administration of Nigeria’s football matter while he called the shots at the Glass House in Abuja.

The artiste fired back at Pinnick, who is also a former Delta State FA chairman, following allegations of a no-show against Davido at the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again’ event.

Previously, the FIFA executive member claimed that Davido was paid a substantial amount of $94,600 but did not fulfill his part of the agreement.

But, in response to Pinnick’s allegation, Davido took to his social media platform to explain the situation and apologise to his fans.

“I was not going to be physically able to make it, and this had been communicated to them for a longgggg while now, I mean MONTHS ago. But for reasons best known to them, they continued to promote the show using my name. It’s a shame,” Davido clarified.

However, the dispute escalated as Davido accused Pinnick of financial misconduct during his tenure as NFF President, including allegations of embezzlement and unpaid allowances to Nigerian football players.

“The man that dropped from the RR is Amaju Pinnick. He was NFF president for just 8 years. He was charged for allegedly misappropriating $8.4m paid by FIFA to NFF. I won’t mention allegations of unpaid allowances by players when he was the president,” Davido fired back.

In his response, Davido implied that Pinnick should not be the first to accuse others of misconduct given the allegations of financial wrongdoing hanging on his neck.

He further stated that if he were to return any money, he would donate it to a football charity organisation and even double the amount. He emphasised that many Nigerian footballers have seen their dreams crashed due to financial issues.

The social media exchanges has garnered significant attention from fans and the public, leaving questions about whether Davido should honourably make a refund or not.
