Chairman of Aniocha South local government area, Hon. Jude Chukwunwike, has called for complementary role for vigilantes in community policing.

He stated this on Sunday when he led a delegation to commiserate with the grieving families of two slain vigilante officers, Mr. Augustine Isichei of Ogbe-Abor Quarters and Mr. Uwandi Okeleke of Ogbe-Ani Quarters, both of Ubulu-Okiti community.

While commending the vigilante members for their efforts, he also reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening local security architecture in partnership with security agencies. He described their deaths as a painful blow not only to their families but to the entire Aniocha South LGA.

Addressing the bereaved families, the chairman expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss and extolled the late gallant security personnel for their courage and selfless service in safeguarding their community.

“These brave men died at a time they were needed most. We stand with you in this moment of grief and assure you of government support.” He said.

Prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the departed, while community leaders and family members expressed appreciation for the chairman’s timely show of solidarity.

Chukwunwike was accompanied on the condolence visit by the Divisional Police Officer of Ogwashi-Uku Division, CSP Okoyomon; councilor representing Ubulu-Okiti, Hon. Frank Ikeagwunachi; the Supervisory Councilor for Environment, Hon Chika Kelly Edozie and Engr. Stanley Mafiana, among other stakeholders.
