Minister of Works Dave Umahi has assured that the five South East states governors are standing in firm support of President Bola Tinubu, even as some are with different political parties.
Umahi spoke late Friday when he visited Abia State Governor Alex Otti at his Nvosi country home after inspecting some ongoing federal road projects in the state.
“We have every reason as N’digbo and people of the South East, irrespective of party affiliation, to stand with President Tinubu as he is standing with the South East,” he said.
He said people of the zone have much to appreciate the president for, including rewriting their political history and mainstreaming them into the federal government.
The former Ebonyi State governor said he used the visit to look at some of the state government’s projects the president had been invited to commission.
“I’ve gone around on my own, I didn’t ask anybody to join me, and I want to say that I’m very, very proud of what you are doing for Abia people. I’m really proud. Not only the quantum of projects you have completed but the quality also, especially the Port-Harcourt Road. It’s mind-blowing that place could be recovered,” he noted.
He lauded Otti for the rehabilitation of two sections of the Port Harcourt to Enugu Expressway, which before now was difficult for the contractor to freely work on.
Responding, Otti appreciated the federal government’s support to the state, assuring it would continue to partner with it for the good of the people.
“I want to reassure you that we’ll work with the federal government and ensure that we work together and collaboratively for the benefit of our people. When those roads are done, the credit goes to government, whether the one at the centre or the one in the state. And then, the beneficiaries are the people.”
