The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the full list of teams submitted by states across the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the 2026 edition of the President’s Federation Cup, setting the stage for another exciting nationwide knockout competition in both the men’s and women’s categories.
In the men’s competition, all 36 states and the FCT have put forward two representative teams each, featuring a mix of established Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) sides, Nigeria National League outfits, and emerging grassroots clubs. Defending continental campaigners and traditional heavyweights such as Enyimba FC of Abia, Rangers International of Enugu, Bendel Insurance of Edo, and Rivers United are among the notable names confirmed.
Other prominent entries include Kano Pillars’ state rivals, Barau FC and Bichi First, while former NPFL champions Plateau United and Sunshine Stars’ youth side, Sunshine U19, will also be aiming to make deep runs in the competition. Lagos will be represented by Ikorodu City and G12 FC, while Kwara United and Nasarawa United headline their respective state entries.
Interestingly, several states have included academy and junior teams, such as Adamawa United Academy, El-Kanemi Warriors Jnr, and Jigawa Golden Stars Jnr, underlining the competition’s role as a platform for discovering and nurturing young talents.
In the women’s competition, top sides in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) will headline the entries. Reigning champions Rivers Angels will be joined by rivals such as Bayelsa Queens, Delta Queens, Edo Queens, and Nasarawa Amazons, all of whom boast strong pedigrees in women’s football.
Lagos-based FC Robo Queens, Naija Ratels from the FCT, and Remo Stars Ladies of Ogun are also expected to provide stiff competition. Meanwhile, developing sides such as Ghetto Tiger Ladies and Dragon Fury Ladies add further depth to the tournament.
The President’s Federation Cup remains Nigeria’s oldest and most prestigious domestic cup competition, offering clubs from all tiers of the football pyramid the opportunity to compete on a national stage. The tournament has historically produced dramatic upsets and memorable moments, with underdog teams often rising to challenge more established opponents.
With the list of participating teams now confirmed, attention will shift to the draw and subsequent fixtures, as clubs begin their quest for silverware and a chance to represent Nigeria in continental competitions.
