Taraba State government has requested the establishment of a drone station by the federal government to combat insecurity in the state.
The special assistant to the Governor on New Media, Suleiman Nyaja, made the appeal in a chat with newsmen in Jalingo yesterday.
The governor‘s aide was optimistic that the donation of armoured vehicles and gunboats to 6 Brigade Nigerian Army Taraba State Command would end insecurity in the state.
“Today, we are proud that His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas donated a multi-billion naira security fleet to the military.
“The donation includes specialised equipment, such as mine-resistant vehicles, armoured gun trucks and patrol gunboats.
“Before my b oss came on board, kidnapping, farmer-herder crises, and other forms of insecurity were major challenges facing the state.
“Insecurity was very very poor, and people pay heavily at the expense of the miscreants, but today, his prompt and decisive action brought about the improvement,” he said.
Nyaja maintained that the governor’s commitment in the area of security was a cornerstone of his administration‘s strategy to secure communities, waterways, airspace among others.
He reiterated the commitment of Governor Kefas to providing continuous support for security agencies in the state.
“Our workaholic governor donated four patrol gunboats, four mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, and four Toyota armoured gun trucks.”
He told Tarabans that the initiative reflects Kefas administration’s commitment to tackle insecurity, by boosting intelligence networks and safeguarding the state’s airspace, waterways and communities.
He hinted that Governor Kefes has assured sons and daughters of the state that security agencies would continue to receive the necessary support to sustain peace and attract investment to Taraba.
