The pro-chancellor and chairman of the Governing Council of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi (JoSTUM), Senator Dr. Lanre Tejuoso, has commended the university’s ENACTUS team for making history by winning the National Champions Award for the first time in 20 years.
Tejuoso gave the commendation during a reception held in honour of the 9th Governing Council of the university at the vice-chancellor’s lodge.
He lauded the ENACTUS team for bringing pride to the university by winning the prestigious national award and for earning the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the Global ENACTUS World Cup, which will take place in Kazakhstan from October 1 to 4, 2024.
The vice-chancellor, Professor Nathaniel Isaac Itodo, introduced the ENACTUS team to the council members during the event and invited the council chairman to personally congratulate the team with a handshake.
In recognition of their achievement, council member Mallam Aminu Lawal Othman donated one hundred thousand naira to the ENACTUS team to appreciate their historic win for the university.
On his part, Professor Simon Irtwange, the ENACTUS Faculty advisor, congratulated the council chairman and members on their appointments. He also thanked the vice-chancellor and university management for their continued support and encouragement.
Irtwange noted that, despite years of effort since 2004, it was under Professor Itodo’s leadership that the university finally secured the opportunity to compete globally against teams from countries such as Canada and the United States.
In his response, ENACTUS team leader Mr. Israel Levi provided an overview of ENACTUS and expressed his gratitude to the council members and university management for their support. He assured everyone that his team would not disappoint the university at the World Cup in Kazakhstan and promised to use the donation from Mallam Aminu responsibly.
