A Boko Haram terrorist whose identity remains unknown has surrendered to troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in Pulka Gwoza LGA, Borno State.
His surrender follows sustained military operations, which continue to exert pressure on terrorist elements across the North East.

The terrorist whose identity is yet to be revealed by the military voluntarily surrendered to troops at Pulka on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, at about 09:20 AM

A statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said that preliminary information indicated the terrorist had previously operated in the Mandara Mountains axis, an area associated with terrorist activities along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.

According to him, the terrorist at the time of his surrender submitted one Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher, one RPG bomb and one mobile phone to the troops.

“The surrendered terrorist is undergoing preliminary investigation and profiling in accordance with established procedures,” he said.

He said the development further reflects the impact of sustained military pressure on terrorist networks and their diminishing freedom of action across the Theatre.

He added that his surrender also underscores ongoing efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to degrade terrorist capabilities and encourage those still bearing arms to abandon terrorism and embrace peace.

He reiterated that the Theatre Command remains committed to sustaining pressure on terrorist elements, denying them freedom of action and creating the conditions necessary for lasting peace and stability across the North East region.
