Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have abducted a retired Immigration Officer identified as Sheikh Gaji Maina Kara alongside two other passengers while traveling on the Biu-Damaturu Road in Yobe State.
Credible sources within the family confirmed that the abduction occurred on Saturday morning near Kama Village.
A family member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the retired Immigration officer was returning from Mubi, Adamawa State where he had visited his family, when the attack took place.
“He’s my brother but I am not in a position to disclose this officially, but the news is all over. I believe the security agencies will issue a statement in due course,” the source said.
Another source from the family also told LEADERSHIP that the driver of the bus narrated that the attackers ambushed them while returning from Biu to Damaturu where the three passengers were abducted.
The family members appealed to security agencies to rescue the abducted persons and to deploy enough security personnel to the area.
The abduction occurred amid resurgence of terrorist activities in some parts of the country, particularly in the North-East region.
