A non-political group, Northern Vanguard for Peace and Security, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, for their commitment to fighting against the twin evils of terrorism and banditry in the country.
The group, in a statement co-signed by its national coordinator, Alhaji Mustapha Ali, director of media and public affairs, Dr Victor Bobai, and director of mobilisation, Hajiya Binta Musa Gombe, said President Tinubu’s administration had placed priority on security, and this commitment has yielded impressive results.
“One area in which President Tinubu’s administration has made significant progress is national security,” it said.
The group said Gen. Musa, as Chief of Defence Staff, has played a crucial role in keeping Nigeria safe from internal and external threats.
“Through his leadership, the Nigerian security forces have been modernised and equipped to effectively combat these challenges, ensuring the safety and well-being of all Nigerians”.
It said in less than a year, the armed forces under General Musa have “rescued over 4,600 hostages, more than 9,300 hostiles have been neutralised, and over 7,000 terrorists and bandits have been arrested”.
The statement added that the administration had invested N50 billion in the Pulako Initiative and initiated the annual recruitment of 30,000 new police personnel, “demonstrating their dedication to creating a safer Nigeria.”
They lauded President Tinubu’s economic reforms, such as the “withdrawal of the unsustainable fuel subsidy and the unification of the FOREX market.
“These measures have led to a 50 percent reduction in petrol importation and increased investor confidence, positioning the Nigerian Stock Exchange as the top-performing bourse globally”.
The group applauded General Musa as a dedicated patriot who has consistently called on Nigerians, regardless of tribe or religion, to unite and fight against Nigeria’s common enemies.
The NPS acknowledged that Nigeria is facing numerous challenges and emphasises the urgent need for unity to confront these issues head-on.
The trio believe that only through a collective effort can Nigerians overcome the evil forces that seek to undermine their progress.
