President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian legal practitioner, Tolu Obamuroh, on his elevation to the partnership of White & Case LLP, one of the world’s most prestigious international law firms headquartered in New York.
Obamuroh’s appointment, which takes effect from January 1, 2026, marks a major milestone for Nigerian representation in the global legal space. He will serve as a Partner in the firm’s International Arbitration Practice in Paris, becoming one of only three new partners worldwide in that practice area and the sole Nigerian-qualified lawyer in this year’s global partner class.
In a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on Friday, Tinubu described the feat as a reflection of Nigeria’s growing global influence through its exceptional professionals.
“President Tinubu commends this outstanding achievement as a reflection of Nigerian competence, resilience, and global excellence, noting that Tolu’s success represents the best of the country’s new generation of professionals who continue to distinguish themselves worldwide,” the statement read.
The President further said Obamuroh’s rise to partnership at such a respected global firm embodies the ideals of his administration’s Renewed Hope vision.
“It stands as a powerful symbol of the Renewed Hope vision, a Nigeria whose citizens lead and excel across disciplines, defined by merit, integrity, and global impact,” the statement added.
Obamuroh has built a stellar reputation in international arbitration, representing sovereigns and major corporations in high-value, cross-border disputes, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He is also known to serve as a trusted adviser to the Federal Government of Nigeria on several international legal matters under the supervision of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
Tinubu said the lawyer’s career trajectory demonstrates the rewards of discipline, excellence, and service, urging other young Nigerians to draw inspiration from his success story.
“The President joined Obamuroh’s family, friends, colleagues, and the wider legal community in celebrating this milestone and encouraged young Nigerians to draw inspiration from his journey of dedication, discipline, and service,” the statement concluded.
