President Bola Tinubu on Saturday called on public institutions, private sector, civil society organizations and faith-based societies across the country to collaborate with the government in building a prosperous and united Nigeria, stressing that governments alone cannot deliver the nation of the people’s aspirations.

The president who stated this at the Commissioning of the New National Headquarters of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria held in Surulere, Lagos said “achieving the Nigeria of our dreams requires the collective commitment of public institutions, the private sector, faith-based organisations, civil society and citizens.”

Tinubu, who spoke through the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, noted that sustainable national development is a shared responsibility.

While urging institutions to contribute their expertise, resources and influence towards strengthening education, promoting good governance, fostering unity and driving socio-economic progress for the benefit of all Nigerians, the President commended the Okunnu family and the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria for their enduring contributions to national development.

“Nigeria remains eternally grateful for the family’s legacy of service, and to the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society for over a century of impactful contributions to education, healthcare, humanitarian interventions, moral development and community service,” the president, describing the organisation as a steadfast partner in the country’s progress.

Also speaking at the event, the Lagos State deputy governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, enjoined Nigerians to remain steadfast in upholding the nation’s core values, emphasizing that they are the foundation for sustainable development and national unity.

He cautioned that no nation can thrive without a strong moral compass, noting that integrity, discipline, patriotism and respect for one another are essential to building a peaceful, prosperous and resilient Nigeria, thereby calling on citizens to preserve these values and pass them on to future generations as the bedrock of the country’s continued progress.

“One thing that we cannot lose is our values. But sadly. How do we bring it back? It’s the only thing that can sustain us.

“While buildings will inevitably age, the ideas upon which the Society was founded must be preserved and strengthened for future generations”, Hamzat advised, urging religious leaders to continue championing the cause of education and that no nation can achieve meaningful development if its citizens are uninformed.

In his goodwill message, the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Sulaimon Abdul- Noulla commended the widespread presence and contributions of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society across Lagos State, citing its numerous educational and healthcare institutions located in different parts of Lagos.

He added that their presence reflects the society’s longstanding commitment to education, moral development and community service.

Earlier, the National President of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Prince Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem, SAN, reaffirmed the Society’s commitment to partnering with the federal government in advancing national development, assuring that Ansar-Ud-Deen would remain a dependable ally in building a united, peaceful, secure and prosperous Nigeria through quality education, character development and selfless service to humanity.

He described the Society as one of Nigeria’s foremost faith-based organisations, with a rich legacy of advancing education, moral development, healthcare, humanitarian services and community development for over a century.
