At eleven, eleven roundabout Càlabar, the Iyaloja—general of Nigeria, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo—lauded the organisers of the carnival festival and urged the people to use the ceremony to showcase their culture and reflect on whatever pain they may have gone through in the course of seeking freedom.

Speaking on the theme.” Our  Shared Prosperity, Iyalo urged the participating bands not to view the festival only from the cultural perspective but to see the fiesta from the multiplier effect that stimulates the local economy, given the number of tourists who will throng to be part of the ceremony.

Apart from being an avenue to showcase the cultural heritage of African people, Iyaloja General stated that the carnival will also perpetrate a virtuous cycle of economic and social activity.

Representing the state governor, Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly CRHA, Elvert Ayambem, described the carnival as an event that unites the people together notwithstanding the difference in political party affiliation and urged participants to give their best for the success of the ceremony that will come up on December 28.
