Motorists plying the Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-MakurdiĀ  Expressway have commended the federal government and operators of toll gates in the area for their actions that have reduced the traffic congestion experienced during the first three days of the process.

The initial congestion at the gates, it was gathered, was due to the cashless toll payment process which motorists were not very familiar with.

Journalists who visited the Garaku toll gate reported long engagements between toll collectors and motorists, leading to long processing periods. They said this was not unexpected as the practice is new in that part of the country.

But the situation, according to motorists, has now improved as the congestion has reduced even at peak periods.

Meanwhile, a story that a woman gave birth on the road has been discovered to be fake, packaged to whip up sentiment.

Motorists told newsmen that with constant engagement, they were getting used to the system as they get enlightened.

Motorists who spoke toĀ  newsmen also commended the initiative of toll operations by the federal government on the Abuja–Akwanga–Lafia–Makurdi road corridor to repay the loan obtained from the China Exim Bank for the road’s rehabilitation and upgrade which was officially launched on February 4, 2025.
